Icon Health and Fitness

What does kitchen and tableware have to do with health and fitness?

The company behind ProForm Fitness Products made a humble beginning importing kitchenware, tableware and marble products in the late 1970’s. The founders of Weslo Inc were trying to but themselves through college.

After a brief stint making woodstoves the company turned to the growing concern with fitness and started making trampolines. When this proved successful, under the name of ProForm, the company moved into other fitness products such as treadmills and home gyms.

After a brief period in the from 1988 to 1994 when Weider owned them, ProForm and Weslo merged with Boston company and Icon Health and Fitness was born. Since that time the company has expanded to include names like NordicTrack, HealthRider, Epic and ReeBok.

Home Gym equipment is pleased to feature select products from Icon Health and Fitness such as the ProForm Recoil Strength System and the NordicTrack 360 with FReeMotion Technology
Icon Stinks

The equipment made by Icon, especially Proform is so poorly engineered that I think the marketing people must have actually done all the engineering.

Roller bushings are made out of plastic that disintegrate upon use, the idler arm is held in place with a loose bolt (must be kept loose so it doesn't pinch the idler arm) that they try to insure doesn't come loose by applying thread locking compound. Their motors burn up, I could go on and on. The warranties are the worst in the industry for a reason. They have capitalized on the market that buys equipment and doesn't use it. If you actually use workout equipment, do not purchase anything made by Icon.
